Lieutenant Hansen was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 as a helmsman in 2267. On Stardate 2945.7, he was on duty during an ion storm that apparently took the life of Lieutenant Commander Ben Finney. Five days later, on Stardate 2950.1, Hansen was again on duty when the ship was in orbit above Starbase 11 for repairs and court martial proceedings for Captain Kirk when evidence was presented that indicated that Finney's death was not an accident, though this proved to be a lie, and Finney had faked his death in order to frame the captain.[1] Hansen was again on helm duty when the ship returned to Starbase 11,[2] and was taken to Talos IV by Mr. Spock.[3]
