Ning'tao class (STO)
Birds-of-Prey were small, fast, and filled a variety of roles for the Klingon Empire. They could be used as scouts, raiders, or patrol ships. The Ning'tao class Bird of Prey was based upon the Norgh class Bird of Prey Raider, and was a significant improvement over the Norgh class. The Ning'tao class was built with a split-wing design to accommodate its quad disruptor cannons; this powerful energy weapon drew from the ship's engines to deal massive damage to an enemy. The class also featured a battle cloaking device, which could more rapidly cloak the ship than a standard cloaking device, including during combat. They were vulnerable when cloaked, but their speed and maneuverability made them hard to hit. The class mounted three forward-facing and two aft-facing weapons emplacements.[1]
