U.S.S. Lafayette NCC-4397 (FASA)
The Federation Starship Lafayette was a Larson class destroyer commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/9704 (April 2197), in the final year of the Four Years War,[1] succeeding the Bonhomme Richard class U.S.S. Lafayette NCC-1720.[2] The Lafayette was refit to the Larson class Mark II specifications on Reference Stardate 1/9901 (January 2199), giving it more powerful phasers and an additional torpedo launcher.[1]
Doctor Leonard McCoy was assigned to the Lafayette as Chief Medical Officer from 2203 to 2205.[3][4] In 2209, Lieutenants Fayel R'Zaad and Joshua Scott were assigned to the Lafayette;[5] R'Zaad as weapons officer, and Scott as an assistant engineering officer. The Lafayette engaged and destroyed an Orion pirate vessel in 2210, causing a personal crisis for R'Zaad, who was half-Orion.[6]
On Reference Stardate 2/1202 (February 2212), the ship was refit again to the Mark VI configuration, and Reference Stardate 2/1709 (September 2217) saw another refit, this time to the Mark VII specifications. As of Reference Stardate 2/2306 (June 2223), the Lafayette was still on active service.[1]
