A biobed was a specialized medical device, used both as a bed for patients in sickbay, as well as containing numerous medical scanners and sensors. When he gained godlike abilities on Stardate 1312.4, Gary Mitchell demonstrated an ability to control his body's autonomic reflexes, such as heartbeat and respiration, to the point where he could stop them completely, which was reflected in the monitors of his biobed.[1]
