The Federation Starship Buran, a Cardenas classs vessel, was destroyed at Priors World[1] during the early weeks of the Klingon War in 2256. The only survivor was Captain Gabriel Lorca, who later claimed that he destroyed his ship rather than let his crew fall into Klingon hands, where they would face torture and certain death.[2] Nearly a year later, however, it was revealed that Lorca had actually been replaced by his counterpart from the Mirror Universe, and that this other Lorca was responsible for the destruction of the Buran.[3][4]
