Revision as of 20:04, 13 November 2014
The Constitution class Starship Intrepid, like her predecessor, the U.S.S. Intrepid NCC-1631, was crewed entirely by Vulcans.[2] Authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 4444,[3] the Intrepid was commissioned in June 2275.[4] The vessel was captured soon after its maiden voyage by Romulan forces seeking to obtain Vulcan brain cells for genetic experimentation, in an attempt to artificially induce the mental powers of their Vulcan cousins. The ship and crew were rescued by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 with the aid of the Romulan warbird Bloodwing.[2] The Intrepid was refit to Mark III specifications in December 2286; in December 2306, the Intrepid was scrapped, nine months prior to the launch of the Excelsior class U.S.S. Intrepid NCC-2020.[5]
Note
The registry listed in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1730, and the registry listed in "Federation Ship Recognition Manual," NCC-1707, both conflict with that given in "My Enemy, My Ally," and must be disregarded.
