The Federation Starship Cody, a Hermes class scout, was authorized for production by the Star Fleet Appropriation of Stardate 0965.[1] On Stardate 5828.3, the Cody detected a number of sphere-shaped vessels on course to attack locations in Federation space. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, under Captain James T. Kirk, responded to the Cody's hails and discovered that a vast machine planet intelligence from a parallel universe, called Nagha, was behind the attacks.[2] Named for the Human frontiersman and showman "Buffalo Bill" Cody.
