The Federation Starship Sovereign was the lead vessel of the Sovereign class, and was commissioned c.2371.[2] The Sovereign was part of a fleet dispatched to intercept the U.S.S. Protostar NX-76884, unaware that it carried the Living Construct, a device created by a group of Vau N'Akat from the future. The Living Construct overrode the computers of all Starfleet vessels in its vicinity, forcing them to drop their shields and fire upon one another. The Sovereign was heavily damaged in the engagement before the Protostar was destroyed.[1]
