One week after the events on Gaia, the U.S.S. Defiant NX-74205 discovers the wreckage of Columbia NX-02 on a planet in the Gamma Quadrant. The investigation into the mystery of how the ship came to be so far from its last known location in 2156, led by Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax, is interrupted when Jem'Hadar ships move to intercept the Defiant.
