On Stardate 1513.1, Lieutenant Rand,[1] a security officer,[2] manned the helm station aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 during the incident on planet M-113[3] as well as the mission to Psi 2000 on Stardate 1704.2 after Lieutenant Sulu was infected with an unknown disease.[4] On Stardate 3196.1, Rand led a security team in the search for the Horta on Janus VI.[2]

- ↑ Lieutenant Rand's name and rank were given in the script for "The Man Trap" as Lieutenant Ryan, but were not spoken in dialogue; he appeared again in "The Naked Time" and was referred to in dialogue as Rand. Additionally, although the script for "The Man Trap" named him as a lieutenant, he had no rank insignia, which would otherwise indicate that he was an ensign. Eddie Paskey also played Lieutenant Leslie, who frequently manned the Engineering station on the bridge, and also wore a red shirt.
