Reference Stardate 1/1000 through 1/1006
January
- RSD 1/1001: With the conclusion of the Romulan War, Starfleet Command begins decommissioning a number of ships. The entire fleet of Messier class cruisers is deactivated, after it served exceptionally well throughout the war. The Zone of Transport Escort is lifted, and galactic peace brings tremendous growth in industry, trade, and tourism.[1][2]
- RSD 1/1001.05 (5 January): The negotiations establishing the Romulan Neutral Zone destroy the political aspirations of Councilman Abraham Dannon. His opponents claim that he, as chief negotiator, gave away too much of the disputed area to the Romulan Star Empire. Dannon is politically censured, and finally loses his position on the Coalition Council.[2]
August
- RSD 0/8706.06 (12 August): The United Federation of Planets is formed. The original signatory powers include United Earth, Alpha Centauri, Vulcan, the Andorian Empire, and Tellar Prime.[3][4][5][6][7]
- Enterprise NX-01 is retired.[5]
- RSD 1/0910-1/2412: The Orion Syndicate signs non-aggression and trade treaties with the Federation, but does not join. The Syndicate instead declares neutrality between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, and continues to trade with both.[7]
