- RSD 2/07: Cadets Fayel R'Zaad and Joshua Scott graduate from Star Fleet Academy; both are in the top five percent of their class. After successful cadet cruises, both are assigned as Ensigns to ships on the fringes of Federation space: R'Zaad to the destroyer U.S.S. Hannibal, Scott as communications officer to the light cruiser U.S.S. Armstrong.[1]
- RSD 2/07: Lancelot Worthington III sets up BioResearch's first trading contract in the Triangle, guaranteeing to distribute green-skinned Orion female slaves despite the cost to BioResearch.[1]
- RSD 2/07: Armed conflict erupts between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets along their frontiers. Both sides suffer heavy casualties and prepare for full-scale war.[2]
- RSD 2/07: Star Fleet Command later learns that Klingon Thought Admiral Krador zantai Rrilac is reassigned to a military governorship on Muldor IV.[3]
- RSD 2/07: Adam Zagrin of Deneva is elected President of the Federation Council.[4]

- RSD 2/0704: After Captain Christopher Pike is promoted from command of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 to Fleet Captain over Constitution class vessel opperations, his hand-picked successor, Captain James T. Kirk, becomes the youngest man ever to command a Constitution class vessel.[5]

- RSD 2/0705: After a delay of several decades and as a result of the added danger posed by the new Klingon base at Mastocal, Starbase 12 is finally completed and assumes operational status.[6]
- RSD 2/0705: Lieutenant Commander Gary Mitchell, first officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, is killed in the line of duty after contact with the energy barrier at the edge of the galaxy. At the request of Captain Kirk, Lieutenant Commander Spock is made first officer as well as chief science officer. He is the first person to ever hold both positions simultaneously on a major Star Fleet vessel.[5]

- RSD 2/0710.21 (21 October): The vast buildup of Klingon military might, reported by Federation intelligence, has totally eclipsed all fear of the long-dormant "Romulan Problem." The complacency of Star Fleet Command and the Federation is shattered when a Romulan vessel, using a cloaking device to shield it from detection, destroys four Neutral Zone border outposts with a new, powerful plasma weapon. Pursued by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, the Romulan ship is chased into the Neutral Zone before it can report. In the pursuit, the Enterprise taps into Romulan shipboard communications and picks up images from the Romulan bridge, revealing the Romulans to be Vulcanoid in appearance. After taking heavy damage from the Enterprise, the Romulan ship self-destructs.[7][8][4]

- RSD 2/0711: The Vulcan Science Academy stuns the Federation, but helps to allay fears of Vulcan/Romulan collusion, when it publicizes its theory concerning the Romulans' Vulcan heritage. This theory postulates a race known as the Preservers, who seeded the galaxy with Humans and humanoids; it is supported by Lieutenant Commander Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.[8]

- RSD 2/0712: The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 discovers the DY-100 class explorer/sleeper ship S.S. Botany Bay, carrying cryogenically preserved survivors of the Eugenics Wars. Seventy genetically enhanced "supermen" are revived and brought aboard the Enterprise. Khan Noonian Singh, the group's leader and infamous tyrant, takes temporary control of the starship, but Captain Kirk and his crew re-establish order. Khan, his group, and Star Fleet Lieutenant Marla McGivers (guilty of collusion in Khan's hijacking attempt) are left on Ceti Alpha V to colonize the planet, in lieu of court martial or formal rehabilitation.[9][3]
