U.S.S. Defiant (TOS 64)

While testing a classified phase inverter^[1] on Stardate 5693.2, an accident caused the U.S.S. Defiant NCC-1764 to fall into an interphase rift.^[2] The Defiant emerged into a universe where time moved far more slowly than in its native universe. While only hours passed for the Defiant, twenty years passed on the other side of the rift. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A was ordered to embark on a dangerous mission to retrieve the Defiant and its classified cargo on Stardate 8544.9. Despite interference from a covert Romulan agent, the mission was a complete success, and Captains Kirk and Scott recommended that the Defiant be placed in the Fleet Museum.^[1]
