Tuvan Syndrome (First Splinter)

A neurological disease similar to Alzheimer's disease that affects Romulans, Tuvan Syndrome first steals its victim's motor skills, then ravages their mind. In time, a Romulan afflicted with the disease would grow incapable of recognizing loved ones, eventually resulting in the patient's lingering, debilitating death.
