Construction on the Federation Starship Saratoga,[1] a Constitution class cruiser, was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220.[2] The Saratoga, constructed to Mark II specifications, was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/0105 (May 2259).[3] Winston Driveon served aboard the Saratoga from Reference Stardate 2/05-2/11 (2263-2269).[4] On Reference Stardate 2/0410 (October 2262) the Saratoga was refit to Mark III specifications, then again on Reference Stardate 2/1202 (January 2270) to Mark IV specifications. The Saratoga was placed in an inactive reserve fleet on Reference Stardate 2/2006 (April 2282).[3]

Notes and References

  1. The registry listed for the Saratoga in the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual," NCC-1720, conflicts with that given in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1724, and must be disregarded. Additionally, a second Constitution class Starship Saratoga, with the same registry number, was listed in the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual," but that entry conflicted with the Miranda class U.S.S. Saratoga NCC-1937 seen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and was merged with that vessel.
