Vanguard class (SFC)

The Vanguard class transport was commissioned on Reference Stardate 0/9204 (August 2134). At 260 meters long and massing 25 million kilograms, it boasted a crew of 94 and was the largest transport ship of the 22nd century and served as the Earth Starfleet's primary multipurpose starship during the Romulan War and in the early years of the United Federation of Planets. Its side-loading bays and adaptable cargo interior made for ready accommodation of different payloads, from small craft to raw ore to nearly 1000 passengers. Later models were uprated to keep pace with advances in warp technology, and the class remained in service until 2185. Just under 1600 would eventually be constructed for military and commercial use.[1][2]
