On 10 January 2160, the Defiant, the Atlantis NX-05, and the Enterprise NX-01 set course for Cheron, with a mission to destroy the Romulan shipyards located there. The Battle of Cheron, as it came to be known, was actually a feint, distracting the bulk of the Romulan fleet away from Romulus, while it was attacked by a force led by the Lexington after receiving a signal from Admiral Avram Gardner, aboard the Defiant. After the Defiant was destroyed, Atlantis and Enterprise would surely have been destroyed as well, had the Romulan forces not retreated to defend their homeworld.[1]
