Anne Potter graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2409. She was chosen to serve as helmsman for her cadet training cruise aboard a Miranda class vessel commanded by Captain Masc Taggart.[1] When the ship came under attack by the Klingon vessel I.K.S. Chot, Potter was injured when a Klingon boarding party beamed onto the bridge and took Captain Taggart as a captive.[2]
