Lieutenant[2] Althouse was the senior ship's counselor aboard the U.S.S. Robinson NCC-71842 under Captain Benjamin Sisko. Counselor Althouse worked to help Captain Sisko face the actions he'd taken in leaving his wife and child on Bajor, and to understand how that related to the reclusiveness he later developed aboard the Robinson.[1]
