- The U.S.S. Archon NCC-189, on a mission to help establish deep space colonies, is destroyed. When investigating a new colony on Beta III, the crew of the Archon discovered that the colony was being used for an experiment in population and mind control by Section 31 scientist Dr. Cornelius Landru. The ship was destroyed by Landru when the crew tried to put an end to his experiments. ("Return of the Archons, Part 2")
