The Ambassador class.[2] Starship Gandhi made first contact with the Zakdorn while on the Coreward Frontier Survey Initiative.[3] Lieutenant Thomas Riker was assaigned to the Gandhi in 2369 after being rescued from Nervala IV, just before the ship departed for a terraforming mission in the Lagana sector.[2] Riker later deserted his post on the Gandhi to become a member of the Maquis.[4]
