Virinat invaded by Elachi and Tal Shiar forces (STO: "Virinat, Invaded")
- c. 18 January: On the Romulan colony world Virinat,[1] the colonists are celebrating the success of their small world in the wake of the devastating tragedies that have befallen the Romulan people. During the celebrations, however, the colony is attacked by an unidentified spacecraft, as well as Tal Shiar ground forces, and the two begin destroying the colony and abducting its people.[2] One of the colony's security officers recognizes the alien technology matches that of an unknown device and drones discovered in a Khellid hive earlier in the day.[3] While most of the colonists are captured or killed, a handful manage to escape in shuttles, many of which are destroyed in orbit. One of the remaining shuttles manages to board an aging T'liss class bird of prey, which had been maintained by a few of the colonists, and the survivors make their escape with the aid of the R.R.W. D'serek, under the command of Commander Temer of the Romulan Republic. Temer encourages the survivors to join the Republic and its quest to free the Romulans and Remans from the oppression of Empress Sela and the Tal Shiar, and invites them to accompany him to the Republic's base of operations.[4]
