The S.S. Fortuna was an independent trading ship operated by Cyrano Jones in the 23rd century.[1] In 2256, the Fortuna was set upon by Klingon forces led by J'Ula, the matriarch of House Mo'Kai.[2] The Klingons forced Jones to send out a false distress signal,[1] luring a nearby Starfleet vessel, a Malachowski class ship on a cadet training cruise, into a trap.[2] After fending off Klingon boarding parties, the Starfleet ship helped Jones repair the damage to the Fortuna, and he fled the area before hostilities resumed.[1]
