Crewman Skial was assigned to the U.S.S. Pioneer NCC-1500 in 2270.[1] On Stardate 6147.4, he was assigned to a landing party conducting search and rescue operations on Taurus II.[2] While searching for survivors of a crashed science vessel, Skial and Ensign Okamura were captured by Stone Age Tauran natives, who intended to eat them. Even in this harrowing situation, Skial could not help but observe the anthropological development of the Taurans from a position of scientific curiousity. He and Okamura were rescued by other members of the landing party, and returned to the ship unharmed.[3]
