Lieutenant Thomas Riker was assaigned to the Federation Starship Gandhi, an Ambassador class vessel, in 2369 after being rescued from Nervala IV, just before the ship departed for a terraforming mission in the Lagana sector.[1] Riker later deserted his post on the Gandhi to become a member of the Maquis.[2]
