The Federation Starship Rubidoux was a California class starship, commanded by Captain Dayton. The Rubidoux was destroyed on Stardate 57752.6 when it was infested by an unknown cosmozoan, which fed on the energy within the ship's warp core before expanding and absorbing the ship into its body. Only a few dozen crew members survived the encounter, including Captain Dayton, when they were beamed to safety by the U.S.S. Cerritos NCC-75567, which had come to investigate why the ship had missed a planned rendezvous at Khwopa.[1]
