A member of the peaceful Ba’ku community, Anij was drawn to Jean-Luc Picard when he visited her world in 2375, and the two quickly formed a deep personal bond, despite her strong distrust of "offlanders." Like most of her people, Anij had the ability to live in the moment to such a degree that time for them would slow to a crawl. To accomplish this, she entered a meditative state.[1]
