The United Earth Starship Daedalus was the prototype of the Daedalus class.[2][3][4] The Daedalus was launched in October 2140, but was destroyed soon thereafter while testing an experimental ion drive system developed in competition with Henry Archer's Warp 5 Engine.[5]
EN7 Timeline
Rather than being destroyed upon launch, the Daedalus was propelled to a distant part of space. More than a decade later, the survivors of ship's crew were found by the Enterprise NX-01, which had been accidentally transported over from the Prime timeline.[5][6]
