A Federation colony in the Benecia system, the Benecia Colony was the destination of the Karidian Company of Players, a traveling Shakespeare troupe, on Stardate 2817.6.[1] When Captain James T. Kirk and Janice Lester switched bodies at Camus II on Stardate 5928.5, Lester (in Kirk's body) attempted to abandon Kirk (in Lester's body) on Benecia Colony with the ruse that "Lester" was insane and in need of treatment at the medical facilities located there, despite their more primitive condition compared to other nearby facilities.[2]
