Miranda class[1]

Commanded by Captain Chantal Zaheva. The Brattain mysteriously disappeared in 2367 and was found trapped in a Tyken's rift near a binary star system by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. All but one of the Brattain crew were found dead, apparently having brutally killed each other. Autopsies conducted by the Enterprise's Dr. Beverly Crusher revealed unusual chemical imbalances in their brains, apparently due to severe REM sleep deprivation, believed to be the cause of the bizarre violence. The REM sleep loss was found to be a side-effect of an attempt by an alien ship to communicate from within the Tyken's Rift. The alien intelligence had apparently been trying to enlist the Brattain's crew to help both ships escape the rift.[2] Named for Walter House Brattain (1902-1987), American scientist who won the Nobel prize for Physics in 1956 for the development of the transistor.
