Lieutenant Commander Nog succeeded Commander Geordi La Forge as chief engineer of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E in 2397 when La Forge was promoted to Captain and given command of the U.S.S. Challenger NCC-71099.[1] By 2409, Nog was also a captain and was the commanding officer of the Chimera class heavy destroyer U.S.S. Chimera NCC-97400.[2]
