Deep Space Station K-13 orbited Beta Fornacis III, an unremarkable Class K planet. The station was constructed in 2270 by Starfleet in response to elevated Orion Syndicate activity in the Orion Sector. Later that year, the station, the U.S.S. Myrmidon, and another Pioneer class frigate were overrun by neural parasites, of the same species as had attacked Deneva several years earlier. The Na'kuhl, a faction in the Temporal Cold War, attempted to travel back in time to capture some of the parasites, but were stopped by the U.S.S. Pioneer NCC-1500 with the aid of a temporal agent named Daniels. Though the Na'kuhl were defeated, the destruction of their ship created a temporal rift that pulled the station through time and space.[1]
