The Vesta class multi-mission surveillance explorer came with a myriad of new technologies. Originally designed as a testbed ship for the experimental quantum slipstream drive, Vesta class ships were successful in combat against the Borg. One of the initial Vesta class ships, the U.S.S. Aventine NCC-82602, was commanded by Captain Ezri Dax. By definition, the ship was extremely versatile. It featured additional science facilities, as well as a wing of Danube class runabouts for use as support vessels.[1]
