Alex Gardner, a 27-year-old Human Starfleet Intelligence operative, was undercover on Ab-Tzenketh, though his mother thought he was on a humanitarian mission to a Cardassian-held planet. Disguised as custodial supervisor Hertome Ter Ata-C, Gardner panicked when he discovered one of the custodians under his supervision was an undercover Cardassian woman, Neta Efheny, and that one of his associates' cover had been compromised. He tried to kill Efheny in a bid to get offworld, but was, himself, killed instead.[1]
