Ensign Okamura was assigned to the U.S.S. Pioneer NCC-1500 in 2270.[1] On Stardate 6147.4, she was assigned to a landing party conducting search and rescue operations on Taurus II.[2] While searching for survivors of a crashed science vessel, Okamura and Crewman Skial were captured by Stone Age Tauran natives, who intended to eat them. Even in this harrowing situation, Skial could not help but observe the anthropological development of the Taurans from a position of scientific curiousity, which Okamura found frustrating. She and Skial were rescued by other members of the landing party, and returned to the ship unharmed.[3]
