Starfleet Captain Thy'kir Shran, a descendant of Commander Thy'lek Shran, served in the 23rd Century. By 2256, he was the commanding officer of the Shepard class U.S.S. Sebrova NCC-1309. While investigating a loss of contact with the U.S.S. Ticonderoga NCC-1650, Captain Shran and the Sebrova came to the aid of a Malachowski class ship on a cadet training cruise that had come under attack by Klingon forces. The ship was commanded by Captain Anton Schaefer, an old friend of Shran's from their time aboard the U.S.S. Endeavour, and he was saddened to learn that Schaefer had perished at the hands of the Klingons.[1] Soon after arriving at the Arucanis Arm, all three vessels were again attacked by Klingons. The Ticonderoga was heavily damaged in the exchange, and Captain Durant was seriously injured. Shran ordered the cadet ship to continue on to Corvan II, to warn the colonists there of an imminent Klingon attack, while the Sebrova remained behind to assist the Ticonderoga and buy time for the cadets to deliver the message and reinforcements to arrive.[2]
