Fungi were a class of lifeforms unique from plants or animals.[1] In 2247, the food supply on Tarsus IV was largely destroyed by an exotic fungus. Governor Kodos declared martial law and ordered half of the colony's population be put to death so that the other half might live on what remained of the food supply. More than four thousand people were executed, earning him the name "Kodos the Executioner."[2]
