Asher Moss graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2409. He expressed his relief that he was not chosen to serve as first officer for his cadet training cruise, noting that Captain Taggart had a reputation as a stickler for the rules.[1] During his cadet cruise, Asher was assigned as a science officer aboard Taggart's Miranda class vessel. When the ship came under attack by the Klingon vessel I.K.S. Chot, Nokes was injured when a Klingon boarding party beamed onto the bridge and took Captain Taggart as a captive.[2]
