Captain Dayton was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Rubidoux NCC-12109. Captain Amina Ramsey claimed that she had rescued Dayton on more than one occasion when the Rubidoux failed to meet up with the U.S.S. Cerritos NCC-75567 on time for a planned rendezvous. When the Cerritos went to investigate the Rubidoux's status, they found the ship had been taken over by an unknown spaceborne alien lifeform. The entity fed on electricity, and after feeding on the ship's warp core, it expanded in size, absorbing the ship as part of its body. Only a few dozen crew members survived the encounter, including Dayton, when they were beamed to safety aboard the Cerritos.[1]
