The Imperial Starship Buran, a Cardenas classs vessel, commanded by Captain Gabriel Lorca, was destroyed by the I.S.S. Charon in 2256 after Emperor Philippa Georgiou learned that Lorca was plotting to assassinate her. Lorca, however, survived, escaping into another universe, where he took the place of his counterpart[1][2] and destroyed the U.S.S. Buran NCC-1422.[3]
