(FASA Roleplaying Game)

The planet M-113,[1] which takes its commonly-used name from being a Class M planet in the UFC 113 system, where it was the fourth planet.[2] M-113, later discovered to be called Fotialla by its indigenous population,[3] was a barren world that once supported a humanoid civilization. From 2202 through 2207, Professor Robert Crater and his wife, Nancy, conducted an archaeological dig, studying the remains left behind by the long-dead race. On Stardate 1513.1, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 visited the planet, to conduct the archaeologists' required annual physical examinations and resupply. During the course of their visit, the crew discovered that Nancy had been killed by a lifeform that was believed to be the last survivor of its species; it fed upon salt, which it drained from the bodies of its victims. It also had incredible telepathic abilities, and could make others perceive it in any form it wished. It took the place of Nancy, and though Robert was initially revulsed by it, he accepted that it was a sentient lifeform and helped it to continue to survive. When it was discovered, however, the creature had boarded the Enterprise, where it killed several crew members, and it was killed while attempting to feed upon Captain Kirk.[4][5]
