Milk was produced by mammals to feed their young. Humans also drank milk from farm animals.[1] Fresh milk was not typically available on starships, but the food synthesizer or replicator could produce a reasonable substitute.[2] Lieutenant Kevin Riley was nearly killed on Stardate 2817.6 when Lenore Karidian poisoned his glass of milk with tetralubisol.[3]
