A semi-sentient botanical lifeform, Beauregard lived in the botany section aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2266. Lieutenant Sulu believed the plant to be female, and dubbed it "Gertrude," but Yeoman Rand insisted that the plant was male, and named it Beauregard. The plant seemed to be fond of her, humming and swaying whenever she came near. When the M-113 creature came near, however, Beauregard began to shriek and thrash about.[1]
