Starfleet Cadet Finnegan was known at Starfleet Academy for his often mean-spirited pranks. A frequent target of his pranks was Cadet James T. Kirk,[1] which earned Kirk the sympathy of fellow cadet Sylvia Tilly. Finnegan graduated in 2256, to the surprise of Tilly, who attributed it to the luck of his Irish heritage.[2] On Stardate 3025.3, while visiting the amusement planet in the Omicron Delta region, then-Captain Kirk inadvertently conjured into being simulacra of Finnegan, allowing him to finally live out a fantasy of "beat[ing] the tar out of him."[1]
