Kerwin (STO)
Starfleet Lieutenant Kerwin served aboard the Cardenas class U.S.S. Buran NCC-1422 as a technical security specialist in 2256. When a group of Klingon prisoners of war were transferred from the Buran to Facility 2047 in the Mandel system, Kerwin was chosen to support the security team due to his expertise;[1] he specialized in computer security, encryption, forcefields, surveillance devices, and explosives. Originally a video novelist for several years, Kerwin was convinced to join Starfleet by Commander Ellen Landry, though a bet may have been involved.[2]
Kerwin (STO: "The Plausibility of the Possible")
Kerwin helped defeat a computer virus while the rest of the team fought off a Klingon raiding force led by J'Ula that ultimately rescued the Klingon prisoners from Facility 2047.[1] Chasing the Klingons back to Priors World, they arrived only to see the Buran destroyed in an intentional warp core breach, with Captain Gabriel Lorca the only survivor, after it was attacked by the escaped Aakar and his forces. When their shuttle was forced to crash on a moon of the fifth planet in the Priors system, Kerwin worked on creating an emergency distress transmitter, but was later killed by a pursuing Klingon raiding party.[2]
