This unnamed Romulan Commander was the commanding officer of the Romulan Star Empire's flagship, a Bird of Prey. On Stardate 1709.2, the ship was equipped with a new cloaking device and a plasma torpedo system, and sent to destroy the Federation's observation posts along the Romulan Neutral Zone. Though the commander was unhappy with his assignment, as he knew the Praetor was hoping to spark another war with the Federation, he followed his orders, as duty demanded. The ship was countered by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, and when the Romulan vessel was disabled in the engagement, the commander engaged in a brief dialogue with Starfleet Captain Christopher Pike until the Praetor arrived at the Neutral Zone with a fleet after being alerted by Decius, a subcommander serving aboard his vessel. The commander and his entire crew were killed when the Praetor ordered the destruction of his vessel prior to opening fire and sparking the war she sought.[1]
