Following the disastrous first contact mission at Rigel VII in 2196,^[1] the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 was traveling to the Vega Colony to seek more advanced medical aid for their wounded when they were lured away by a false distress signal by the Talosians. Following the incident on Talos IV, the Enterprise resumed course for the Vega Colony.^[2]
