The Makin class assault ship, which was brought into service in December 2275, could beam down its complement of 1800 marines, 9 heavy tanks, and 32 light support vehicles in 25 minutes, slightly less rapidly than the Continent class assault ships could manage. Makin class ships were produced at the Tellar and Salazaar shipyards, with a combined production rate of 14 vessels per year. Of the 68 Makin class ships built, by the late 23rd century, 64 remained in active service, one was used by Starfleet Training Command, one had been destroyed, and one had been scrapped.[1]
