The Federation Starship Sagan, an Oberth class vessel, was commissioned in February[2] 2341.[3]
Note
Named for the Human futurist, Carl Sagan. Although the "Star Trek: The Next Generation Officer's Manual" lists the Sagan as a Sagan class vessel, this designation was superseded by the Oberth class name. Additionally, while the reference stardate given for the Sagan's commissioning, 2/8502, would normally translate into February 2343 (when adjusted for conflicts in the FASA "Star Trek: The Roleplaying Game" chronology), the introduction of the modified Oberth class vessels that the Sagan represents was given as 2341 in the Decipher "Star Trek Roleplaying Game's" "Narrator's Guide."
