The Pioneer class frigates were in service of the Federation Starfleet in the late 23rd Century. The lead vessel was the U.S.S. Pioneer NCC-1500.[1] The class was designed for short range support missions and was built with versatility in mind. It was armed with two forward-facing and one aft-facing weapons emplacements.[2]
